Deal to delivery

Turn a won order into a delivery project

When a deal closes and the order lands, spin up a delivery project in one click — or fire it from a workflow. The project links back to the deal and company, seeds its budget from the order total, and gives your team a board to deliver on.

Updated June 2026

Closing the deal is the start of the work, not the end. In KudosCRM the won order becomes a delivery project that lives on the same record — so the contact, the company, the deal, and the dollar amount you sold all carry forward instead of getting re-keyed into a separate tool.

This guide turns a single won order into a project: where the button lives, what gets linked and seeded for you, how to pick a starting template, and how to make it fire on its own from a workflow so your team never starts from a blank page.

Who this is for

Delivery leads, project managers, and account owners who run client work after the sale, plus admins wiring up the deal-won handoff.

Before you start

  • A KudosCRM account with permission to create projects.
  • A won order on the deal you want to deliver — the project seeds its budget from the order total.
  • An idea of the delivery shape (one of the three built-in templates, or a blank project).

It's one click, not magic

Creating the project is a deliberate one-click step (or a workflow you set up), not something that happens silently the moment a deal is marked won for a brand-new workspace. We do this on purpose so a project only exists when you mean to deliver — and so the right template and owner get chosen rather than guessed.

Turn the order into a project, step by step

  1. Open the won order on the deal

Go to the deal that closed and open its order. This is the record that carries the amount you sold — that total becomes the project's budget baseline.

  2. Create the delivery project

Use the create-project action on the order. In one click KudosCRM stands up a new project and links it back to the deal and the company, so the relationship history travels with the work.

  3. Pick a starting template

In the project composer, choose a built-in template — customer onboarding, implementation, or internal launch — to seed a dated task list, or start blank if the engagement is bespoke.

  4. Confirm the linked record and budget

Check that the project shows the deal, company, and a budget seeded from the order total. The budget is tracked against invoiced revenue as you bill, so the baseline matters.

  5. Add your team and roles

Invite members with owner, editor, viewer, or client roles. Members auto-follow the project, and the owner row stays protected so the project always has an accountable lead.

  6. Open the project board and start delivering

Drop into the kanban board — planning, in-progress, review, done, blocked — and start moving work. The progress bar rolls up automatically from your tasks as they complete.

  7. Optional — make it fire from a workflow

To remove the manual step, build a workflow on deal-won (or order-created) that creates the project for you. Today this is a workflow you set up, not on by default for a new tenant — so you stay in control of when projects spawn.

What you get

  • A delivery project that carries the deal, company, and contact forward with zero re-keying.
  • A budget baseline seeded straight from the order total, ready to track against invoiced revenue.
  • A dated task list from a built-in template — or a clean blank board for bespoke work.
  • An optional workflow that spins the project up on deal-won, so delivery never starts cold.
